The beliefs of a church are vitally important because they will be the motivation for everything the church does as a group, whether it be worship, teaching, fellowship, or outreach to the local community and beyond. At Central church of Christ, we believe the Bible is God’s “Owner’s Manual” for our lives. In it, we learn how to have a relationship with Him and how He wants us to live. In a world of diverse beliefs and a multitude of different types of churches, we are trying to serve the Lord as a unified body that uses God’s word – the Bible – as its only authority. We want our congregation to resemble the first churches that we read about in the Bible, in spirit, organization and function.
Following the plan of organization found in the New Testament, churches of Christ are autonomous. Our common faith in the Bible and our desire to follow only its teachings are what ties us together. We have no central headquarters and individual churches are lead by members of each local congregation that are selected based on the qualifications given in the Bible. (I Tim. 3:1-8)
The Bible teaches that there is one God, our Father and the creator of all things. He longs to have a relationship with us, so much so that he sent his own son, Jesus Christ, to show us how to live, to teach us, and to die for our sins so that we may have eternal life. A Christian is simply a follower of Jesus.
