With regard to the regular contribution of the local church there is only
mention of it being taken on the first day of the week which would seem to be only one
time on that day (I Corinthians 16:1,2). There were special contributions taken in the
first century church when special needs arose about which we have no mention of the time
of their being taken (Acts 11:27-30). Most of the emphasis in the New Testament on giving
had to do with the need and the attitude with which we are to give instead of the time it
was to be given.
