Having A Christian World View Everyone has a world view. It is the glasses through which we see the world and anything in it. Our world view is determined by our beliefs. The person who looks at the world in terms of everything coming into being and development in a naturalistic way and think that there is nothing outside our universe that affected the development of man will see the world and what is right and wrong, good and evil in a very different way than one who believes in God and credits Him with the creation of the world and all that is in it.This past week it was in the news that scientist now agrees that dinosaur’s became extinct because a giant asteroid hit the earth. It is supposed to have been over a thousand times as powerful as the dropping of the bomb on Hiroshima. I certainly don’t know what such an asteroid hitting the earth would bring about. But the fact that a number of scientist agree on the subject isn’t very convincing to me. Through the year’s scientist have agreed on all kinds of things that turned out to be wrong. The only reason all of the atheistic concepts to try to explain how the world got here and how man and animals have developed is because they rejected God and creation first and were then faced with explaining the existence of all without God. What difference will it make in your child or grandchild’s life and thinking if they believe the universe came into being by a big bang, that man is just a evolved form of lower forms of life, and that our sense of right and wrong just developed naturally in us, but there is no bigger standard than our own determinations? If mankind is just a creature evolved, why wouldn’t a person see sexual relations as just a physical act and use the same standards as the animals around them use? Why would it be more wrong to kill a person than to kill a rabbit? When we leave God out of the equation our whole view of relationships change so that people become tools to use rather than ones made in God's image, who are extremely important to Him. People are there to be used at will. Selfishness is normal. Killing unborn children is acceptable and the killing of older unhealthy members of society is practical. When we believe in God and believe what He has said to us in His word, our world view changes drastically. The whole world is a concern for us because God made it and His fingerprints are all over the creation. Paul even said that invisible things of God are clearly seen through what He has made, even His eternal power and deity (Romans 1:20-21). Our view of humanity changes even more. Instead of man just being a developed animal, they are made in the image and likeness of God, have an immortal soul and their body is the sanctuary of the Holy Spirit. The body dies but God has promised that He will raise that body from the dead, incorruptible, immortal, to never die again. When I see the world through the glasses of Christianity, people who hurt must be helped in any way possible for us. Every person is important because they have a soul and because God loved them so much He gave His unique Son to die for their sins. Our mission is to carry the good news of God to every ethnic group and every person in that group. No one has done so much wrong that they can’t be forgiven by God and given a fresh start. While the earth and the universe are important because God made them, we also recognize that the earth and everything in it will be destroyed when the Lord comes again. The earth and life on it won’t be destroyed by global warming, global cooling or even by some religious nut setting off an atomic bomb. Life on earth with its seasons and order will continue until the day comes when Jesus will come again, with the sound of a trumpet, a shout and the voice of the archangel is heard. Then we will see Him in the clouds along with all of His holy angels and all the redeemed souls that have gone on to him through death. If you have allowed the world to determine your way of looking at things and have become more attuned to what men say than what God says, it is time to change. In 2 Corinthians 5:16-17 Paul wrote: “So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone, and the new has come!” Part of being made new as a Christian is the way we see the world around us. The problem is we so easily allow the world’s attitudes to become our own. Keeping a godly view of life and the world is vital for our moral health, our spiritual health and our emotional health. Shine on! Leon Barnes
