Mission Message 2010
This
page is dedicated to the writings of Anthony Wood, who
works as an evangelist for River City Ministry.
Anthony Wood, a veteran with 15 years experience in the inner city culture, began work with RCM in
March 2008. Previously he worked with Memphis Urban Ministry as Director.
His thoughts and prayers from the mission field are poignant
and moving, straight from the frontline of the spiritual battle for the hearts of men and women in the
mission fields of the inner city.
His writings are shown here in the hope that they will be an
inspiration to all Christians to pursue what is our main
mission while here on earth - to win others for the Lord and
expand His kingdom.
3/10/10
He’s alive, Lord, Mark is alive! The rumor was that he got into a car with some shady characters, was found dead near the railroad tracks, and then buried last Friday.
The truth is that Mark was dead, because he dug up the old dead man of sin. He picked up the bottle he had laid down three months ago when immersed. He picked up and put back on the old Mark for a bit. The good thing was, he got picked up by the police and taken to jail. Mark had time to think, and he did, about You.
This morning, still thinking he was dead, I arrived at RCM to see Mark standing at the door with a big smile. As we talked, he realized what it meant to “be dead,” so to speak. It hit him hard.
“I don’t want to be that dead man no more, except to sin. I want to be forgiven,” as he shook his head. “I can’t believe I gave in, I know better, and look where it got me, in jail.”
I said, “Yep, and everyone thought you were dead.” We prayed that everyone would know that he is truly dead--dead to sin.
Thank you for Mark being alive this morning, Lord. Thank for making Mark alive in Jesus. Again.
God raised us from death to life with Christ Jesus … Ephesians 2:6, CEV
