This page is dedicated to the writings of Anthony Wood, who works as an evangelist for River City Ministry.  Anthony Wood, a veteran with 15 years experience in the inner city culture, began work with RCM in March 2008. Previously he worked with Memphis Urban Ministry as Director.  His thoughts and prayers from the mission field are poignant and moving, straight from the frontline of the spiritual battle for the hearts of men and women in the mission fields of the inner city.

His writings are shown here in the hope that they will be an inspiration to all Christians to pursue what is our main mission while here on earth - to win others for the Lord and expand His kingdom.

Lord, is it possible to love and be as concerned about people as much as You? I do believe that when our hearts begin to beat in time with Your Great Heart, You will answer the desires of our hearts about people whom we care about. There are people I haven’t seen in a while, and the love in my heart causes me concern about their lives.

Sunday, I thought about, then prayed about Terry, and I saw him the next morning. We talked and prayed. He said that it’s been tough on the streets.

Monday, I thought about, then prayed for Gloria, and I saw her the next morning. We talked and prayed. She wants to give her life to You. She’s spending time repenting to be real about a walk with You.

Tuesday, I thought about, then prayed for Shantana, and I saw her the next morning. I picked her up as she finished a night of prostituting. We talked and prayed. She prayed, “Lord, help me stop living this sinful life.” She had “slacked off” smoking crack some though, she said.

Wednesday, I thought about, then prayed to You about Gail. I saw her the next morning, walking slowly having just gotten out of the hospital. We talked and prayed. She’s dying of AIDS, but said she was strong in You today, Lord.

Lord, help me to think about, then pray for those I care for. Those whom I know You love more deeply than I. And, I will expect to see them, the next morning. Thanks, Lord, for picking up on the desires of my heart and acting on them. It’s a great thing when You help my heart to beat in time with Yours.
