MISSION
SUMMARY
WHO are we?
Nathan Hogue is a licensed Mental Health Counselor who works for Centers for
Youth and Families, providing School-Based Services of individual, family, and
group therapies to students within a middle school setting. Stacey Hogue has a
degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in art and works as a
second-grade teacher for the North Little Rock School District.
Together, we are enjoying our fifth year of marriage. We have been working and
serving in Little Rock, Arkansas for four of those years as active participants
in numerous ministries at the Barrow Road Church of Christ in Little Rock,
Arkansas.
WHAT is our
mission about?
In conjunction with our team members, John Anthony and Kristen Renwick, we will
be working with Christians in Scotland to evangelize through relationship-based
ministries and a counseling ministry dealing with the issues that are prevalent
in Scottish society.
WHERE are we
going?
After much prayer and two self-supported survey trips to Scotland in 2000 and
2002, we are excitedly planning toward a commitment of at least five years in
service with the congregation in Aberdeen, Scotland. While there is no full-time
worker at present, the church family is faithful and strives to grow. As a
result, we have been invited to join the Aberdeen church family in taking the
Gospel message to a city of over 200,000 people.
WHEN will we
leave?
Our desire is to depart for Aberdeen in August 2003. This, of course, depends
heavily upon God's provision of supporters from among His people. We believe
this is the time to go to build on the faithful activities already being led by
the church in Aberdeen, to capitalize on their zeal and excitement about the
prospect of evangelists working with them, and to pave a way for the rest of our
team to arrive shortly after the new year.
WHY do we want
to go?
Our passion for mission work has its beginning in Nathan’s childhood memories of
growing up in a missionary family in Glenrothes, Scotland. Stacey’s experience
with mission work began in college where she participated in several campaign
efforts to Scotland. There is a stirring within us due to our deep love for the
hearts of the Scottish people and our understanding of their culture and
situation. Returning to Scotland to serve as long-term, full-time missionaries
has been our dream and goal for a number of years.
HOW can you
become involved?
We are in the process of acquiring funds in the form of monthly support. Our
wonderful home congregation has already pledged to sponsor our work and to
allocate a large portion of its missions budget to Scottish mission efforts.
Please consider joining in this partnership with us. We would love to come and
visit with you personally to tell you more so please let us know of your
interest as soon as possible. Thank you for giving this information your time
and attention.
