Adopt-A-Block

Adopt-A-Block

Adopt A Block’s mission is to connect to the community that God has placed us in and build relationships with people who live near our church building, but may not know who we are.

Every month we meet in the community park behind Martin Luther King Elementary and provide a picnic lunch. We invite people who live in the MLK community, students, and faculty from the school. We split into groups that go and walk through the neighborhood, knocking on doors to meet people, invite them to the park and learn about any needs in the community. A group also stays at the park to meet people, give a short bible lesson, and play with the kids who there. We pick up trash as we walk through the neighborhood and sometimes we deliver food or items to people in need. Some months we have a service project for the school, or to help out a few of our friends who are trying to restore older houses in the neighborhood.

Getting involved is easy! We can always use volunteers day of, but we normally have a sign up the week before to bring different items to help feed people or drop off to different houses!
